From pain and posture problems in older children, to rapid growth and hormonal changes in teenagers, osteopaths are able to identify areas of tension or strain in the body that are causing discomfort to the child. Osteopaths understand the different demands on a child's growing body and can help with many different problems associated with this.
Osteopaths believe that imbalances, stresses and restrictions in the musculoskeletal system of an adolescent child, not only cause discomfort but can affect normal growth and development in a number of ways. Osteopaths focus on providing physical comfort and balance to a child's musculoskeletal system, not simply treating a disease.
Of course, every child is unique and so I consider the whole child at the initial examination and devise a treatment plan that is tailored to their individual condition.
Many of the children who see me come to my clinic after falls or injuries. Of course, minor falls are common in children, but sometimes they can disrupt the physical balance of a child's body.
I have found through my practice that I can help improve the quality of movement in children with gentle treatments for their muscles and joints.
